         This is a welcome page of my blog Birds of India. And I welcome all the persons who are Bird lovers and those who are interested to know about bird identification. For those Bird lovers I shall try to say how to identify a bird and also habits and habitats of different birds of India. Also I discussed here about bird sanctuary and birding spot of India. So, I have divided all my post mainly four categories.

Bird Sanctuary - Here I discussed about different Bird Sanctuaries of India.

Birding Spot - In this category, I discussed about different uncommon birding spots of India

Identification - This is the main category where I have explained how to identify a bird species.

Feature - In feature category, I write  featured article relating birding.

         For centuries, birds have held a fascination for human world and have been a subject of study of Bird lovers. Winged wonder inspire great awe, especially for their ability to fly, their ability to build extraordinarily intricate nests and not least, the brilliant colors of their plumage-features that no human being can replicate.

  India is the home of more than 1250 species of birds. Among the Birds of India, Peacock is our National bird and every state has its own State bird. One may call India a paradise for birding.

       All the  Birds of India have been divided into 25 groups called " Orders" which are again divided into "Families" " Sub families " and " Genera ".This process of classification is called TAXONOMY. According to geological structure and considering the flora and fauna, all the country has been demarcated into 13 bio-geographical region. Those are : Trans Himalayas, Western Himalayas, Eastern Himalayas, Desert, Semi-Arid, Gangetic plain , Central India, Decan Plateau, Western Ghats, Eastern Ghats, North East, Coastal and the Andaman Nicobar Islands. These territories provide an opportunity for Bird lovers to watch and study a large number of pelagic Birds of India.

     There are many bird sanctuaries in India which house vast variety of exotic Birds of India species. From Ornithologists to Bird lovers or layman, they attract every body.

      Some of the Indian bird sanctuaries worth mention is 1) Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan. 2) Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, Haryana. 3) Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Goa. 4) Kumarakam Bird Sanctuary, Kerala. 5) Kaundinya Bird Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh. 6) Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu. 7) Chilika Lake Bird Sanctuary, Orissa. 8) Kutch Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary, Gujrat. 9) Mayani Bird Sanctuary, Maharashtra. 10) Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Gujrat. 11) Samaspur Bird Sanctuary in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh. 12) Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary, Uttar Pradesh. 13) Bakhira Bird Sanctuary, Uttar Pradesh. 14) Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary,  Karnataka. 15) Kulik Bird Sanctuary, West Bengal.

        Beside that, there are several birding spots in different parts of India to watch the Birds of India like Singling in Sikim,  Suntalekhola, Chupir Char in West Bengal, Nuranang Water Fall in Arunachal Pradesh where birders or Bird lovers can see a huge variety of Birds of India.
