How to identify Verditer Flycatcher
Verditer Flycatcher ( Scientific name :Eumyias thalassinus) is a beautiful medium sized bird of Passeriformes family. It's size is 15 cm.The adult males has distinctive copper-sulphate blue plumage on all areas of the body and has a dark patch between the eyes and above the bill base and the adults also have a grey vent. Adult females and youngs have lighter blue plumage, darker in wings and tail and color of lores are black.
Habits and Habitats
Live solitary or in pairs in winter. Sometimes they are found with other birds. They are very restless, always flicking tail especially upon landing ; swoops about and ever on the move, occasionally descending quite low; rather more noticeable than other flycatchers because of its continuous movement and habit of often perching in open exposed positions like on electric wires or bare twig on a tree top.They are found in open forests or in orchards.One interesting thing of this Verditer flycatchers is that they forage above the canopy level and perching on electric wires or exposed tree top branches.The Verditer flycatcher is a sit-and-wait predator that has favourite perches from where they launch their aerial pursuits of flying insects.Food

Distribution
They are found in the Himalayas at an elevation of 1,200–3,200m; This species can be found throughout southeast Asia, from the lower parts of the Himalayas to southern China and India and into Indonesia. These birds inhabit a variety of habitats, from forest and woodlands to parks and gardens.
Call Description
They are silent in winter. Call is of rich, trilling notes and song during Himalayan summer.
